Involvement
and Participation in
Missing LinkThere
are many ways to become more involved with
Missing Link and contribute to making it an
organisation which meets your needs. There are
groups to attend; a drop-in to come to if you
feel like it; opportunites to learn new skills,
as well as places for you to say if you would
like things to be done differently.

How to become involved
Drop-in facilities
At the Missing Link office, there is an area
which can be used at times by you to meet with
other women informally and get to know each other
over a cup of tea and a biscuit. We aim to
arrange a weekly programme of activities which we
publicise every month. Staff are available in the
building and are on hand in case they are needed.
We welcome any suggestions you may have for
activities.
In
the drop-inarea, there is a computer for your
use. Training can be provided for you to learn
computer skills to help you produce documents of
your own such as letters, cards or a CV.
Sometimes
we organise one-off activities. In the past these
have included a "fun with writing"
course; making a garden on our patioand various
arts and crafts groups.
Newsletter
This comes out every 3 months and is always up to
date on events and news withing Missing Link.We
want to encourage you to be involved as much as
possible both in its production and in writing
articles/poems/recipes etc to go in it.
Day
Activites
From time to time we organise a series of
sessions around a particular theme. In the past
this has included short courses on
"spring" and "women" to link
in with International women's day. These are
generally very popular, and we will keep you
informed through these pages and our newsletter.
Ways
in which to have your say
User satisfaction survey
Every year Missing Link residents are asked to
complete a questionnaire to let us know what they
think about the quality of our service.
Quarterly
residents meetings
These are meetings directly with the Director,
and are a chance for residents to say anything
they like or dislike about the service. This is a
place for any concerns or suggestions to be
raised.
Annual
general meeting
This is a meeting to elect members to the
management committee. This is also a time to
review the past year and to think ahead to the
new one. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome
at this meeting, and it is usually held at the
office, with refreshments provided.
Social
Events
Day trips
Every year missing link organises various social
events. Residents are asked for their ides of
where to go for a day trip during the summer. In
previous years, residents have been to the
seaside, Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust and a local
boat trip.
Christmas
party
We hold a party at the Missing Link office where
food and drink is provided and staff and
residents play games, sing carols, dance and
generally have a good time.
International
womens Day
Around this time (8 March) each year, we put on
events for residents to attend, to join the
celebrations for this day which women from all
over the world will be celebrating in different
ways.
